Sue Canterbury
Sue Canterbury is the Pauline Gill Sullivan Curator of American Art at the Dallas Museum of Art. Before joining the DMA Canterbury served as Associate Curator in the Department of Paintings & Modern Sculpture at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, which was preceded by her first curatorial post as Assistant Curator at the Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, Massachusetts. She holds an MA and BA in Art History from Williams College and Wellesley College, respectively. Her DMA exhibitions include Alexandre Hogue: The Erosion Series (2014); Edward Steichen: In Exaltation of Flowers (2017); Cult of the Machine: Precisionism and American Art (2018); and, Ida O’Keeffe: Escaping Georgia’s Shadow (2018); In Focus: Henry Ossawa Tanner (2021); Pursuit of Beauty: The May Family Collection (2021); and, Point Line Plane: The William B. Jordan & Robert D. Brownlee Bequest of Works on Paper (2021).
